The Greenwich Split
The winds they are achangin...in the metaphorical sense. Monday morning at the crack of dawn (the real crack of dawn) we finally left New London and headed for as far as we could go. When we got outside the channel we realized that it was a gorgeous day for sailing. The seas were calm and there was a nice breeze which was, unfortunately, coming from where we wanted to go. So we motored and motored and came to the realization that there was a chance we could make it to Greenwich by day's end. We motored on and pulled into the Riverside Yacht Club just before 11 o'clock. It was a long day of "sailing" but we were greeted by friends singing "We wish you a merry Christmas" with accompaniment from a large Nutcracker soldier...it was quite a sight.
The Allen family graciously opened up their beautiful home to three tired, hungry and smelly sailors. Upon arrival at their house they had just what we needed; good food, a hot shower and a cozy bed with a view...well 3 cozy beds. We had realized early on that I would not make it to FL by the 23rd of December as originally thought so Greenwich became my FL. This was my final stop and it was not easy to leave the boat regardless of the misery and hardship it's not easy to walk away from such a great adventure. (Maybe for some of you it is but not for a sailing idiot like me) Greg found that he too was ready to move on so we all parted ways. Greg and I took trains into NYC and Sean remained in Greenwich awaiting a friend to continue the journey on. I'm jealous of Sean for getting to continue on the adventure and I can imagine he's a little jealous of Greg and I getting to walk around and sleep in a warm bed. But these are the paths we have been placed on and we can only hope they cross again...hopefully on the water somewhere.

Dave I can't wait to hear more of the stories. Sean Fair winds. I look forward to following your adventures and hope you make it too the sun soon. Say hello to Liz.
That's all fine and good Jonathan, as long as you remember his name is David once he's back on the West Coast. By the way, look at you guys, riding high with UCLA. Football AND basketball, this year. Nicely done.
Go Bruins.
glad you are safe. you made it pretty far!
Too bad you guys ran out of time just as you were starting to perform. Yeah Liz Allen family! Take care and have a great Christmas.
