After months of preparation we are finally days away. As of two days ago the Moxie looked like the photo on the right. After two crazy days she is in the water with her mast stepped and food onboard. Plenty of things have gone wrong (including missing turnbuckles, corroded wiring and a broken shift cable) but we have had a little luck and a lot of help from a lot of people.
We are now in FINAL preparation mode. Discovering dozens if not hundreds of things that still need to be done. Some of those preparations include stopping a coolant leak, getting sails up, stowing gear, and loading more food. We are hoping to set sail out of Falmouth, ME on Tuesday the 5th of December with Sean, Greg and David on board. We plan on hitting the Cape Cod Canal 24 hrs later. First stop will be Tabor Academy located in Marion, MA. Sean is an alum and we're hoping they'll feed us and bathe us, or rather let us bathe ourselves. Planned stops from there include Greenwich, CT - NYC - Norfolk, VA - Charleston, SC - and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
We are anxious, nervous, excited and if we were honest probably a little terrified. It's going to be cold and things will happen that we have no way of preparing for. For our Mom's sake we won't go into specifics but things can go wrong very quickly and we can only hope our knowledge and equipment can get us out of trouble.

Awesome site, This is such an exciting adventure and we are all Very Proud of all of you and the great work it has taken getting to this point. Thanks for letting the mothers have a bit of peace..although we are concerned and love you dearly, we do worry. Hopefully the things that are unexpected will be handled well and know that you are being carefully watched over and guided by Someone much Greater than all of us. Have fun and God speed....Love Mother Meikle
Like all parents, we want our kids to pass us up - and boy are you doing that! There's a simplicity about sailing. It's mostly common sense but in situations where there's often not a lot of time to ponder and bad decisions can be punished severely. Your cool heads, collective experience and shared problem solving will, we know, serve you well. We, too, are proud of you, thrilled for you (and yes, a little scared for us all).
hey sean great idea of sailing to cuba!
its also really cool that you and ur friends practically rebuilt the boat so you can use it.
hope you have awesome trip and make it back in one piece!!

Hello Friends -
Here it is - Tuesday and it's cold cold cold in Camden. We can't imagine how it will be on the water for you. I think temperture-wise it will be not so great but on every other level it will be so heavenly. May many Rare and Wonderful Adventures come to you and all the sailors who join you aboard Moxie.
Best of all Luck and Happy Sailing.
